Solid Phase Microextraction—A Promising Tool for Graft Quality Monitoring in Solid Organ Transplantation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Solid organ transplantation is a life-saving intervention for patients suffering from end-stage failure. Although improvements in surgical techniques, standards of care, and immunosuppression have been observed over the last few decades, transplant centers to face problem an insufficient number organs concerning growing demand. An opportunity increase pool intended more frequent use extended criteria development analytical methods allowing better assessment quality minimize risk post-transplant injury rejection. Therefore, solid-phase microextraction (SPME) has proposed various studies as effective tool determining compounds significance during graft function or chemical profiling grafts undergoing preservation protocols. This review summarizes how SPME addresses challenges associated with different matrices utilized peri-transplant period discusses its potential diagnostic future work.

Antibody Subclass Repertoire and Graft Outcome Following Solid Organ Transplantation

Long-term outcomes in solid organ transplantation are constrained by the development of donor-specific alloantibodies (DSA) against human leukocyte antigen (HLA) and other targets, which elicit antibody-mediated rejection (ABMR). However, antibody-mediated graft injury represents a broad continuum, from extensive complement activation and tissue damage compromising the function of the transplan...

Coccidioidomycosis in solid organ transplantation.

Coccidioidomycosis is an endemic fungal infection of the southwestern United States. Normally a self-limited infection in healthy hosts, coccidioidomycosis can become a serious complication in patients who have had solid organ transplantation. Among patients whose solid organ transplantation was complicated by coccidioidomycosis, the infection has a variety of clinical presentations. Disseminat...

Macrophages in solid organ transplantation

Macrophages are highly plastic hematopoietic cells with diversified functions related to their anatomic location and differentiation states. A number of recent studies have examined the role of macrophages in solid organ transplantation. These studies show that macrophages can induce allograft injury but, conversely, can also promote tissue repair in ischemia-reperfusion injury and acute reject...

Tuberculosis in Solid Organ Transplantation

Active tuberculosis (TB) is one of the major opportunistic infections that may occur in solid organ transplant recipients. Diagnosis and treatment of latent and active TB are challenging in this population due to lack of randomized clinical trials. In this review, we discuss the clinical manifestations of TB, diagnosis of latent TB and treatment of both latent and active TB.
